Okay, that title is a bit misleading – this is more like “teaching doors to close behind cats and dogs.” :-)
Do you have an animal in your house that knows how to bang open a door from one room to the next? If you are trying to keep the air-conditioning in or cold drafts out it’s annoying when they barge through and leave the door swinging wide open (think of showering in a steamy bathroom in winter, when BAMM! there’s a cat wanting your attention followed by a blast of cold air…).
If you are a smartphone user who will need to choose between warm hands and using your touchscreen phone outside during the winter, stop by your nearest Five Below store. They have stretch knit gloves with conductive tips on both thumbs and index fingers for only $3! I tested them and the conductive material worked well with my iPhone’s screen.
Most people know that Google Maps includes Street View – they have vehicles mounted with cameras that cruise the streets taking photos every few feet. That’s a LOT of territory to cover, so at this point a portion of these images are likely to be several years old. But unless there has been major reconstruction in an area these photos are still a good way to actually see what a location looks like before you drive there.
